CONGRATULATIONS, MAYOR VIRGINIA (GINSEY) FALLON

and to Mayor Pro Tem Joan Thurman.

MAYOR GEORGE LANE

It saddens us deeply to report the death of Pinehurst Mayor George Lane Link Here for the story from The Pilot

The memorial service for Mayor Lane was held Thursday, 2/25 at the Village Chapel.  The photo above was taken at the 1/23/10 Town Hall held by Moore TEA Citizens at the Pinehurst Village Hall.  Mayor Lane warmly welcomed the 200+ attendees.  It was the last time Mayor Lane made a public appearance in a large group.  We will long remember his wonderful, sunny disposition and determined, positive spirit.  We'll miss you, George.  From your myriad friends in Moore County.  Rest in peace, friend!

Speaker, John Hood, President, John Locke Foundation, spoke to members and guests of MCRMC on Thursday, February 11th at CCNC, beginning at noon.

Following a delicious luncheon we heard John Hood from John Locke Foundation.  He addressed three questions.  First, will North Carolina recover economically?  Second, are T.E.A. Parties for real?  Third, is the North Carolina Legislature up for grabs?  The talk was most informative, and the brief answers are 1) yes, eventually, given better government controls in Washington and Raleigh, 2) yes, people are upset, and acting on their anger in positive, helpful ways, and 3) yes, it is possible for Republicans to re-take the North Carolina legislature - for the first time ever as a Conservative party.  In 1898, when the Republican Party was in the majority, it was a liberal party.  All in all, it was a positive report.

There are now over 400 members in the Moore County Republican Party!

The next MCRMC meeting will be held on Thursday, March 11th.  Same time, same place.

Join us and bring a fellow Republican guest who would be a potential member!
